Housing Opportunities is working with the City of Michigan City on building new homes or rehabbing existing homes. The mortgage for the home will be based on the family’s income. So let’s say your annual income is $25,000, the monthly payment would be no more than $583. That would include principal, interest, taxes and insurance.
All homes will be at least 1100 square feet with three bedrooms and 1 ½ bathrooms. The family will be involved in the construction or rehab of the home by selecting colors and etc. Each home will be Energy Star Rated which means that gas and electric utility cost will be lower. (Estimated bill for Gas/Electric in winter $70).
