Housing Opportunities, Inc. provides housing choices to low income families and/or individuals.

Do you have low income housing?

Yes, the Affordable Housing Program has one-bedroom apartments and is considered low-income housing. Please visit the Affordable Housing Program page for more information.

Do you accept Section 8?

Housing Opportunities accepts Section 8 for the transitional apartments and permanent apartments.

Yes, you are eligible for every available program offered by Housing Opportunities, Inc.

We provide down payment assistance to families and/or individuals who are eligible.

How many bedrooms do you have in your housing program?

Permanent housing has one, two and three bedroom apartments, the transitional housing has two-bedroom apartments and the Affordable Housing Program has one-bedroom apartments.

Do you give mortgages?

No.

What is the mortgage amount needed to qualify for new construction?

To qualify, you would have to get a mortgage for $30,000 less than the purchase price of the home.

Where do you get your funds for the New Construction program?

Housing Opportunities receives grant money from Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) to assist families with an income of 80% or below the area median income.

How many people are on the Permanent Housing waiting list?

The permanent and transitional waiting list is combined. The actual amount varies.

How long before a person could come off the waiting list and get housing?

It is permanent housing. As long as program participants follow the rules, they may remain in the housing permanently if they choose.

Should I fill out an application if the waiting list is 28 people long?

Yes. It is better to be on the waiting list. As apartments open, all participants may no longer qualify for the permanent housing program. Therefore, the list could move quickly.
